Hello hello,
Since I have returned to Beijing, I have been settling in and settling in my family as we get ready for our last year here. Coming back to my studio after two months away, I noticed that a lot of my paint pens were bleached by the sun and had dried out from being stored in cups or mugs. So when I saw this sewing box at Ikea, I thought it would make an amazing paint pen container.
This has been heavily influenced by Emily having repainted a gorgeous vintage sewing box in the past.
I decided to paint it using some of my favorite symbols and to give it a kind of folk magic vibe. I tried out my color combinations in my Get Messy Color Catalog.
And then happily started painting. The video shows where I am as of yesterday. I will complete this today or tomorrow and share after that. The bottom of the compartments I lined with wallpaper that comes from old wallpaper sampler books. I feel like the gold color will show off the posca pens nicely.
Adding in my favorite symbols and very ‘me’ imagery makes it so personal.
I love how it is evolving and can’t wait to finish it!
